Christopher Nolan’s writing in Oppenheimer does a great job of keeping the audience engaged and informed, even with its long runtime. The writing helps make the historical figures come to life.

Our Prediction: Past Lives

Written by Celine Song, Past Lives is a deeply heartfelt movie that contains great scenes with its two main characters, as they question their love for each other throughout the film.

Best Animated Feature Film

Our Prediction: The Boy and the Heron

Though the blockbuster Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse came in second with our votes and could seem to be a possible winner. We decided on The Boy and the Heron, the newest and supposed last film by acclaimed director Hayao Miyazaki. Its dream-like, hand drawn animation with its personal story make the film another Studio Ghibli masterpiece.

Best International Feature Film

Our Prediction: Society of the Snow

This beautiful and tragic film comes from Spanish filmmaker J. A. Bayona. The film became a huge hit due to its popularity with critics and audiences when it came out on Netflix.

Best Cinematography

Our Prediction: Oppenheimer

Our pick for cinematography has to go to Hoyte van Hoytema for his work in Oppenheimer. His vision of beautiful shots and mix of color and black and white make it a solid stand out.

Best Director

Our Prediction: Christopher Nolan for Oppenheimer

From previous films like The Dark Knight Trilogy, Memento, Interstellar, and Dunkirk, Christopher Nolan has established him as a major director working today. And with Oppenheimer, he directed his most ambitious and possibly his best film to date.

Best Supporting Actor
